Steve comes to us from the smallest state in the Union – Rhode Island. His career took him to Charleston, South Carolina in 1996 and in 1999 he relocated with his family to Fort Myers, Florida.
Following a short stint in hospitality, he entered the field of higher education and has spent the last 36 years at the College and University level. He began his career as a faculty member and rose through the ranks from academic management to school operations, and then the executive office where he served as a college president until his retirement in the spring of 2013.
Steve earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bryant University in Rhode Island and a Juris Doctor from the University Of Massachusetts School Of Law. A life-long educator, he believes that the lessons we learn each day outside of the classroom are as important as those learned from within.
Steve is very active in giving back to his community. He is a member of the Fort Myers Rotary Club, serves on the Board of the University of Massachusetts Alumni Association, is a supporter of the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, past member of the Executive Leadership Committee for the American Heart Association Heart Ball, and included in the top 100 fundraisers for the Miami to Key Largo MS150 cycling event. He has been involved with the SW Florida Wine Fest that supports the Children’s Hospital and when living in Rhode Island, he served on the Advisory Board of the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. He is a long-time supporter of the Chamber of Southwest Florida and is a graduate of Leadership Lee County.
Steve consistently exhibits a solid service orientation always placing his clients as ‘top priority’. From corporate executives to first time home buyers, Steve understands the needs and expectations of his clients; and that understanding is demonstrated by impeccable customer service and 24/7 accessibility to his clients.
Steve and his wife Barbara have lived in Fort Myers since 1999. Their daughter Lisa lives in central Florida with her children Jackson and Maddison. Their son Michael and his wife, Melissa, reside in one of the famous historical districts in downtown Charleston. Steve’s interests include cycling, scuba diving, and snow skiing. Of course spending as much time as possible with his two grandchildren Jackson and Maddison is top on his list!
