Happy Spring!  Here’s What’s Happening in Southwest Florida in April!

3rd Annual Bling & Bags Bingo Fundraiser at Crowne Plaza Hotel
April 3rd from 5:30pm-8:30pm

$50pp.  Buffet dinner, lavish auction baskets, raffles, and 16 bingo game cards to win fine jewelry and designer bags.  All proceeds benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of SWFL.

Sunset Celebration at the Cape Coral Yacht Club
April 3rd and the First Wednesday of Every Month thru May from 3pm-sunset

This family-friendly event features vendors selling unique arts & crafts, jewelry, gift items and more. There will also be food trucks on hand so you can grab a bite to eat and listen to live music on the beach while enjoying a beautiful SW Florida sunset.

World Wine Tour at Bell Tower Shops
April 4th from 6-8:30pm

Wine lovers will travel the world, tasting over 20 outstanding domestic and international wines, hand selected by Cru’s Executive Chef Bob Boye, all while taking in tunes by New Beginnings Events and indulging in light bites from participating Bell Tower Shops Restaurants. All proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida to give hospitalized children what they need most: their families.  Tickets are $40 per person in advance and $50 at the gate.

“Second Chances: The Thrift Shop Musical” at Broadway Palm Dinner Theater
April 4th – April 30th

A funny, yet inspirational, musical comedy about the quirky characters that run The Second Chances Thrift Shop. You’ll meet the hilarious lead clerk who always brings sunshine to the day with humor, the couple who work in the collection area who discover that you can find love later in life, the young mother and new shop manager trying to start over, and more! When the thrift shop is threatened to be sold by the greedy landlord, the team won’t stand for it. Spend a year with the loveable, yet quirky, group and see how they band together to save the shop and in the process, discover it’s not just old treasures that are getting Second Chances! Downtown Fort Myers River District Art Walk
April 5th from 6-10pm

A must do in the River District social scene is the monthly Art Walk. Always on the First Friday, visit the many exciting galleries, exhibitions, and performances. Free to the public with many venues featuring additional attractions and specials.

Overflowing with fresh, local and healthy produce, fruits and foods, along with melt-in-your-mouth baked goods, made-on-site guacamole, salsas, homemade jams & jellies, pickles & olive mixes, cheeses, take home foods and much more.

Touch a Truck in Cape Coral at Layfayette Street
April 6th from 8am-3pm

This is a family friendly event where kids of all ages can explore and ask questions about their favorite vehicles such as Cape Coral Rescue Truck, Lee County Emergency Medical Ambulance, Cape Coral Police BMW Motorcycles and the Florida Forestry Swamp Buggy just to name a few. All participants will receive a truck passport and can visit the designated locations for a chance to win a prize. Entertainment geared toward children of all ages, health and safety exhibitors, local vendors and sponsors, and lots of children’s activities.

PRIDE Cape Coral
April 6th-7th from 5:30pm-10pm Saturday and 10:30am-3pm Sunday

Cape Coral’s inaugural PRIDE celebration kicks off at 5:30pm Saturday with the PRIDE Parade, followed by live entertainment on the big stage.  The two day celebration happens along SE 47th Terrace.  Sunday brunch takes place at the intersection of SE 47th and SE 10th.  Hosted by South Cape Hospitality & Entertainment Associations, in conjunction with PRIDE SWFL.

BBQ Bands & Brew at Centennial Park in Fort Myers
April 7th from 11am-6pm

Admission is $10 – Kids under 12 Free!  Builders Care is the non‐profit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association. It’s mission is to provide emergency construction services at no cost to needy and deserving elderly and/or disabled homeowners, and their families, who cannot obtain repairs through traditional means. 100% of proceeds from BBQ, Bands & Brew will support the work of Lee BIA Builders Care!

“An Evening of Heroes and Inspiration” in Fort Myers
April 10th from 5pm-8pm

Presented by The Uncommon Friends Foundation’s Distinguished Speakers Series, hear honored speakers including retired Army MG James L. Dozier, retired, Air Force Lt Col Gary L. Peppers, and retired Air Force CPT Wayne O. Smith. Hear each officer relate his own compelling story of strength and perseverance and how they survived very difficult experiences and eventually returned home and continued to serve others for good. Event takes place at the Burroughs Home & Gardens. Appetizers and beverages will be served. Yappy Hour at the Bell Tower Shops
April 12th from 6-8pm

Ditch the bones and toys and bring your pooch to Bell Tower Shops for Yappy Hour, where you can meet adoptable dogs, sip on cold refreshments from the outdoor bar and listen to live music with your four-legged friend. This is a free event open to the public with proceeds from the event to benefit the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

Funny Bunny Easter Event at Vineyards Community Park
April 12th from 6-8pm

$2 per child.  Collier County Parks & Recreation presents an Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Collier County “Funny Bunny” also known as Shiro the Gator, Collier County’s Park Mascot. Candy filled eggs will be hidden at Vineyards Community Park just waiting to be found! Shiro will make a special appearance and be available for photos. Bring your own camera to take a picture with the Funny Bunny.

Earth Day Festival in Collier County
April 13th from 10am-3pm

This year’s Earth Day Festival at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida will feature guest speakers, festival food, exhibits, crafts, live animal programs, boat rides and more!

North Fort Myers Easter Egg Hunt
April 13th from 9am-11am

$5 per child. Come enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt, refreshments, goodie baskets and prizes at the North Fort Myers Community Park and Recreation Center.

Music Walk Downtown Fort Myers River District
April 19th from 6-10pm

The River District comes alive on the third Friday of the month as local and regional musicians line the streets. From jazz and blues to rock & roll, many genres can be heard and vary each month. Free to the public with many venues featuring additional attractions and specials.

Insane Inflatable 5K at JetBlue Park
April 20th from 8am-3pm

Pre-registration is available now!  Click HERE for details.  This one of a kind race is a fun and dynamic 5K, made up solely of inflatable obstacles, will challenge you, surprise you, and leave you bouncing back for more!  New in 2019, the addition of the Krazy Kids Inflatable Fun Run which is a fun run course designed just for kids ages 5-12 years old! Run, jump and slide your way through a 1-mile course filled with custom inflatables.  Spectators are free!  Participants need to be at least 42″ tall on event day. There is no minimum age to participate.

Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition & Music Festival in Downtown Fort Myers
April 26th-27th on Friday from 6pm-10pm and Saturday from 11am-10pm

Presented by The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center, teams from across the Southeast will prepare their most succulent barbecue in hopes of winning the grand champion prize. Browse local retail vendors, enjoy delicious barbecue, listen to great bands, and watch the young ones have a blast in the Kids Zone!

Southwest Florida Epilepsy Awareness Walk
April 27th 12:30pm-4:00pm

2 mile Walk at Lakes Regional Park, 7330 Gladiolus Dr. Fort Myers, FL 33908. Registration is on-line at www.epilepy-services.org. Adults are $25, children under 12 are $10. A t-shirt, lunch and parking are included with registration. This is the 4th year of the event.
